Announcement: Changes to 2026 Regional Conventions
To the members of the Northeastern District,
We are all excited and proud that NED has been leading the way in quartet contest participation at our regional contests over the past several years. With that success has come some logistical challenges resulting in longer quartet contests that are not sustainable to our competitors, the audience and the judging panels. In an effort to find a solution, the District board of directors voted to realign our regional conventions for a one-year trial in 2026. This change is necessary because the large number of quartets from the Granite & Pine and Patriot divisions could no longer be accommodated in a single regional contest within a comfortable schedule on Fridays. The previous east/west regional convention structure will not be used in 2026.
For the 2026 regional conventions, we will transition to a north/south regional structure.

This solution was chosen for the upcoming year, again on a trial basis.
After the 2026 spring contests and prior to the start of 2027, we will undertake a further review of the results of our trial in 2026 and our options. The contest and judging team and the board of directors will seek input to ensure the long-term success of our events. Thank you for your understanding as we address this problem of our own success.
